Christmas & Chill: Top Ten Vegas Christmas Events

It ain’t even cold outside, not where I’m from
Feeling like it’s mid-July under the sun
My jacket don’t get no love, no hats and no gloves, not even a chance to rain
But my baby’s in town and we’re gonna do some winter things
“Winter Things” – Ariana Grande
It’s mid-December, and we’re pushing 70-degree-plus temperatures here in the Las Vegas Valley. It’s time to change our tune or in this case… time to change the tune.
I really must stay – Baby it’s warm outside
I don’t want to go away – Baby it’s warm outside
This evening has been – Been hoping that you’d drop in
So very nice – I’ll hold your hands, they’re not like ice… because those phalanges are on fire!
How hot is it? “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” is now called “Sweating with the Kardashians!” It’s so hot today you could fry an egg on an ice cube. How hot is it? My change melted into a medallion in my purse. It was so hot today that I saw an elderly woman run through the dancing fountains of The Bellagio… you get the idea.
The title of this month’s penning comes from Ariana Grande’s second holiday album titled “Christmas & Chill.” “Chill” is not on the Christmas to-do list this time of the year as the hustle and bustle of the shopping season has me in a frenzy wild with excitement and department store derangement. Can you say Amazon?
Take me to the ice-skating rink downtown (No, no, no, downtown)
Even though it’s 100 degrees, gotta get out
Ain’t no ice or no chills, no snowmen to build, most of our friends at the beach
But my baby’s in town and we’re gonna do some winter things
So, what’s up with all the ice skating rinks popping up? Ice skating rinks here in Las Vegas are multiplying like Tribbles on the Starship Enterprise. They’re here, there, and everywhere. Never underestimate the power of the NHL’s Golden Knights, a Zamboni, or a Triple Salchow. Skating is on fire here in the desert (pardon the pun) as a sport and as a Las Vegas activity. Even Tonya Harding (everyone’s favorite pariah of the ice) is hot again with the new biopic “I Tonya.” All I can say is, “WATCH YOUR KNEES PEOPLE!”

Good Tidings
It’s the most wonderful time of the year to break out your inner Tara Lipinski or Johnny Weir and mirror skate from a Lutz jump into a Death Spiral followed up by a Triple Axel. Better yet, drive up to Mt. Charleston and head into the lodge, throw a log on the fire, and grab a Hot Toddy. Brr its cold… Baby its cold outside!
Merry Christmas,
Belinda
