Hakkasan Sees the Light

Happy 2015! Once again, Las Vegas became “America’s Party” as more than 350,000 New Year’s revelers packed the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown’s Fremont Street Experience to ring in the New Year. Think about it: That’s roughly the population of Wichita, Kansas.

It was a blast – literally – as a spectacular fireworks display erupted from seven casino rooftops. The 1,500+-ft. tall Stratosphere got things started in a big way by illuminating its massive tripod-shaped tower from the bottom up for the final countdown, then exploding in a pyrotechnic frenzy.

Speaking of lighting things up: The Hakkasan Group set off some fireworks of its own when it recently acquired competing nightclub/restaurant operators, the Light Group, for $36 million.  This coincides with Hakkasan occupying its new Las Vegas headquarters in an office tower located at the 215 Beltway and Rainbow Blvd. in the southwest part of town.

Hakkasan CEO Neal Moffitt promised a rapid expansion of the Valley’s premier nightclub operator and he delivered, adding the Light Group’s 19 nightclubs and restaurants to its growing stable of clubs and dining establishments, which also includes the Angel Management Group. Can anyone say “Cirque de Soleil?”

Global giant Hakkasan’s newly expanded portfolio now includes restaurants like Yellowtail and Fix at the Bellagio, the new Hearthstone at the off-strip Red Rock Resort & Casino in Summerlin, and four dayclubs, including EDM, Wet Republic, and Daylight. Additionally, there are also smaller venues like Revolution and Gold Lounge. Plus Hakkasan also operates Social House at City Center and the soon-to-open Omnia, which replaces the now-defunct Pure Nightclub at Caesars Palace.

Of course Hakkasan and MGM will continue their long and intimate partnership which was bolstered in April of last year with the formation of a joint venture hotel company called “MGM Hakkasan Hospitality.” This new MGM-Hakkasan entity is in the process of developing boutique hotels throughout the world. The company’s first full-fledged luxury resort will be on Dubai’s uniquely exclusive Palm Jumeirah Island.

Only time will tell if Hakkasan will be able to successfully integrate these new Las Vegas acquisitions into its rapidly growing collection of nightclubs and restaurants. However, given Hakkasan’s astonishing success in the Las Vegas market, we have every reason to believe that Hakkasan’s undeniable magic touch will continue to dominate the Las Vegas club and restaurant scene for years to come.

We congratulate the Hakkasan Group on their success. Our destination management company in Las Vegas looks forward to working with them to bring you the most fabulous Las Vegas events you can possibly imagine.
