Today on DMZ

Destination Management Zone

Welcome to another rollicking edition of DMZ, the Destination Management Zone…WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS ENDS UP ON DMZ. Brought to you by Las Vegas DMC – Destination Fabulous. Once again we find ourselves closing out another fabulous year, and ready to ring in a New Year here in Las Vegas “The Entertainment Capital of the World!” Who really needs Hollywood when we have more than our fair share of celebrity gossip and innuendo?

My, oh my! Where to begin, where to begin?  Lamar Odom… seriously what was he thinking? Well, that’s the point, he was thinking with the wrong head! Come on, who really wants to be locked away in double wide in the middle of the Nevada desert  in Lyon County with two questionable “Goddesses” at The Love Ranch? Tragic, but not nearly as tragic as the “K” Klan (no, not that Klan) aka the Kardashians who all showed up in tow bedside at Sunrise Hospital (surprisingly void of cameras) to maximize their exposure, and share in the limelight of what was truly a horrific event.  The Kardashians are completely shameless, but I digress. (Did you really think we could have a gossip column without mentioning the Kardashians?)

Now onward and upward (pardon the pun), let’s talk about the ever evolving Las Vegas entertainment landscape, and the current events that we here at Destination Fabulous call Vegas KnowPower™. Here’s the 2016 rundown, and it goes like this:

Headlining Entertainment

Las Vegas Natives THE KILLERS & WAYNE NEWTON will be the first acts to take the stage at the new $375 million arena owned by MGM Resorts and AEG Live on April 6.

(It’s only fitting that the new Las Vegas Arena open with the biggest and most successful performers to come out of Las Vegas)

George Strait (I guess the cowboy didn’t ride away after all) will also perform April 22-23 and Sept. 9-10 at the new  20,000-seat Las Vegas Arena (naming rights TBA).

Janet Jackson will bring her Unbreakable World Tour to the Las Vegas Arena Saturday, May 14 for the rescheduled dates replacing her two cancelled shows at AXIS Theatre due to illness. (Rumor has it Caesars Entertainment is now the one who is ill.)

As previously posted on Facebook and tweeted by Las Vegas’ preferred destination management company, Destination Fabulous, another mini-residency with ~20 shows next year is headed to The AXIS at Planet Hollywood on April 27 starring Lionel  “Dancing On the Ceiling “ Richie. He’ll appear upside down in the same theatre where Brit Brit will continue headlining for another two years, and actress/author/fashion designer/dancer, and American Idol Judge JLo will pick up her residency on Jan. 20, 2016. How does she continue do it all and look so great? (Thank goodness for that pact with the Devil.)

Carlos Santana 2016 performance dates at the HOB at Mandalay Bay will mark his fourth “Smooth” year there.

 Celebrity “Insignifica Significa”

My personal favorite Bruno Mars was immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds  Las Vegas to celebrate his 30th birthday.  It should also come as no surprise that beautiful Bruno whether dipped in paraffin or live in the flesh is also available through our Destination Fabulous DMC’s XtremeEntertainment™ talent booking service. Like I’ve said before, I love this guy. He is just so good. And oh, so waxy… (Oops , I meant to say sexy!)

Flamingo headliner ONJ (Olivia Newton-John) will be the WOTY (Woman of the Year) for the Nevada Ballet Theatre’s 32nd Annual Black & White Ball on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Wynn Las Vegas. (OMG YOLO LMAO! #greasedlightning)

Brit Brit premiered her Aristocrat’s Britney Spears Slot Game at Planet Hollywood. It features Britney’s most popular top-charting hits, including “Hit Me One More Time, “Toxic” “3”, “Oops I Did It Again,” and “Crazy”. It has two base game features, four entertaining bonus features and a $10,000 single site progressive jackpot. (Head shave not included.)

Food & Beverage Developments

The new Pete Rose Sports Bar and Grill opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner has an outside patio

and features his historic baseball career memorabilia. (FYI “Charlie Hustle” belongs in Cooperstown’s

National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Ex Commissioner Bud Selig belongs in the Hall of

Shame…just sayin’.)

(“At my shop, family comes first, and money comes second, depending on who ya ask.  But the best part: You never know what’s gonna come through Chumlee’s back door. This is Pawn St*rs.”)

Perennial UNLV booster and benefactor Born and Raised BAR opened at 10050 Eastern Ave. in Henderson. (“Greetings and Salutations to mascot Hey Reb!”)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And days of Auld Lang Syne.

For Auld Lang Syne, my dear,
For Auld Lang Syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
For Auld Lang Syne.

And here’s the hand, my trusty friend
And gives a hand of thine
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
For Auld Lang Syne.

For Auld Lang Syne, my dear,
For Auld Lang Syne,

For Auld Lang Syne.
